Goat Arena Perspective

Marco van Basten was one of the most technically gifted strikers in football history. His combination of elegance, aerial ability, finishing and incredible technique made him a nightmare for defenders.

A complete centre-forward with exceptional movement, balance and technical ability. Van Basten could score with either foot, dominate aerially, finish from difficult angles and produce spectacular volleys. He was equally capable of linking play and finishing attacks.

Van Basten is remembered as one of the greatest natural strikers ever. His career was relatively short, but his peak was extraordinary, particularly during his years at AC Milan and the Netherlands national team.

His spectacular volley against the Soviet Union in the Euro 1988 final is considered one of the greatest goals in European Championship history.
