Florian Wirtz

Florian Wirtz is a German attacking midfielder recognised for his close control, intelligent movement and creative passing. He developed at Bayer Leverkusen, where he became one of the Bundesliga’s leading young playmakers and helped the club win major domestic honours. He joined Liverpool in 2025, bringing his ability to link midfield and attack to the Premier League.

Wirtz thrives in pockets of space between midfield and defence. He can receive on the half-turn, carry the ball past opponents, combine quickly with forwards and create chances with incisive passes. He is also comfortable moving into wide channels or arriving near the penalty area to finish attacking moves. His effectiveness comes from anticipation and technical quality as much as speed.

At Goat Arena, Wirtz should be judged by his chance creation, progressive passing, ball retention under pressure and involvement in moves that lead to shots. His goals and assists matter, but his role in connecting midfield to attack is equally important. Comparisons between the Bundesliga and Premier League should account for tactical context and minutes played.
